Types of Appliances
Elastics (Rubber Bands)
Rubber bands improve the alignment of your upper and lower teeth. Wear them as directed for best results.
Headgear
Headgear corrects overbites and underbites by gently pulling on the upper teeth to manage jaw growth.
Palatal Expander
This device widens your upper jaw by applying gentle pressure to your molars with each adjustment. Follow your orthodontist's instructions on adjustments. You'll wear it for several months to maintain the expansion.
Retainers
Retainers, either removable or fixed, keep your teeth in their new positions after braces. Follow your orthodontist's care instructions and wear them as directed to prevent your teeth from shifting back.
Separators (Spacers)
Separators are small rubber rings placed between teeth to create space for orthodontic bands. They are removed before band placement and should be avoided with sticky foods, toothpicks, or floss.
